At PrepWorld we operate to the highest hygiene and food safety standards aligned to all major retailer codes of practice. This includes regular testing and surveillance. PrepWorld operates to GFSI-recognised BRCGS standards, achieving the highest AA+ certification grade, supported by a full Codex-based HACCP system.
During routine testing of raw material, we received a positive result for presence of salmonella on an apple and a kiwi sample. A retest of both samples returned negative results. As a precautionary measure we have issued a recall of all products which contain these two raw materials and which have a use by date of 23rd or 24th June. The full list of products and retailers can be found below.
Product safety and quality are our highest priorities, and we took swift action to inform our retailer customers when the results were received. There has been no further evidence of salmonella in any further testing of our preparatory process, raw materials or finished goods. We will continue to keep our customers informed as a full investigation is carried out, including an audit of our testing laboratories.
Any member of the public who has purchased one of the products listed below with the Use By dates described should return the product to their store and a refund will be issued.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers and to members of the public who have purchased these products.

Frequently asked questions
What is being recalled?
PrepWorld is recalling a number of prepared fruit products containing apple and kiwi as a precautionary measure, due to the possible presence of salmonella. The specific products and use-by dates are listed above and in the recall notice issued by the retailers and the Food Standards Agency.
Which products are affected?
The recall affects selected apple and kiwi products with use-by dates of 23rd and 24th June 2026, sold through several retailers. Please check the recall notice in store or on the retailer's website, or the Food Standards Agency website. The full list of affected products, retailers and barcodes is shown above.
I have bought one of these products. What should I do?
Please do not eat the product. Return it to your store and a refund will be issued.
Is it safe to eat?
As a precaution, please do not eat the affected products. Salmonella can cause illness, so we are asking customers to return the products rather than eat them.
What is salmonella and what are the symptoms?
Salmonella is a type of bacteria that can cause food poisoning. Symptoms can include fever, diarrhoea, stomach cramps and being sick. If you have eaten one of the affected products and feel unwell, contact your GP or call NHS 111. In an emergency, call 999.
I have eaten the product and I feel fine. Should I be worried?
If you have eaten an affected product and have no symptoms, there is no need to be alarmed. If you do feel unwell, please contact your GP or call NHS 111 for advice.
Have people become ill?
We are not aware of any reports of illness linked to these products. The recall is precautionary and has been taken in the interest of customer safety.
Why has this happened?
During routine testing of raw material, we received a result for the possible presence of salmonella on an apple sample and a kiwi sample. A re-test of both samples returned negative results. As a precaution, and because customer safety is our priority, we have recalled the affected products while a full investigation is carried out. There has been no further evidence of salmonella in any further testing.
Are other PrepWorld products affected?
No. Only the apple and kiwi products listed in the recall notice are affected. No other products are involved.
